As a person of faith, I urge you to prioritize including pathways to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, especially essential workers, in the jobs and infrastructure bills in Congress.

Essential workers have put themselves at great risk to keep our nation fed and safe during the pandemic. Many of them are undocumented immigrants who have lived in the United States for years without opportunities to seek legal residency or citizenship, given the lack of pathways to citizenship available under our current immigration system. It is high time for our nation to address this critical shortage of legal pathways to residency and citizenship and support those whose labor we rely on daily and who currently live in fear of deportation.

Please keep working to find pathways to citizenship for undocumented immigrants in our nation, especially for essential workers, in the developing jobs and infrastructure legislation and budget negotiations. These immigrants are our neighbors, friends, and members of our faith communities. We stand with them and urge you to provide them relief.
