Right now, Congress is deliberating about budget priorities for fiscal year 2021, as the current budget is set to expire on December 11. Among other urgent priorities is the need to provide additional funding for refugee resettlement and assistance for refugee families in the year ahead.
The incoming Biden-Harris administration has promised to raise the number of refugees admitted to the U.S. annually to 125,000 - an enormous increase from the levels in recent years. In the midst of a pandemic, and with this new goal, it is critical that Congress provide generous funding for refugee resettlement and refugee families already living in the United States.
