Dear Representative,

As your constituent and a person of faith, I urge you to commemorate World Refugee Day on June 20th by taking action to support refugees. The United States has long been a model for welcoming refugees, but the resettlement program has shrunk dramatically in recent years. When the United States closes its doors to refugees, refugees are forced to wait in dangerous conditions abroad for permanent solutions. Here are some ways you can support refugees:

1) Urge the Biden administration to restore the U.S. refugee resettlement program by welcoming as many refugees as possible this fiscal year so as to rebuild the program to resettle 125,000 refugees in FY 2022;

2) Cosponsor the World Refugee Day resolution which will be introduced later this month; and

3) Support robust funding for the refugee resettlement program, community-based case management for asylum seekers, and humanitarian assistance at border shelters.

Communities of faith around the United States are ready and willing to take up their moral duty to welcome the stranger by helping facilitate welcome for refugees and asylum seekers. Please do what you can to support refugees in Congress.
